The Cultivator Cooperative is a no-cost, two-day capacity-building opportunity for professional learning leaders who want to support the implementation of high-quality climate change and environmental justice instruction in their regions and communities.
Designed for current and aspiring professional learning providers—including county office staff, district, site, and teacher leaders, as well as community-based partners—the Cultivator Cooperative will introduce participants to the approach behind the free, high-quality Seeds to Solutions instructional resources, provide opportunities to connect with fellow leaders, and prepare participants to support professional learning efforts in their communities as Lead Cultivators.

To ensure equitable statewide access, each regional professional learning event accommodates approximately 40 participants based on designated county allocations.
What to Expect
Over two interactive days, participants will:
- Experience a Seeds to Solutions unit
- Construct a framework for supporting student sensemaking through Seeds to Solutions instruction that is applicable across multiple disciplines
- Network with fellow educational leaders across their service regions
- Identify and explore opportunities to localize Seeds to Solutions based on local climate impacts, priorities, and partners
- Frame an implementation plan to support educators in enacting Seeds to Solutions locally
Participation Benefits
- Network of Lead Cultivators: Every participant will be equipped to be a Lead Cultivator in their community — and gain access to a network of peers leading professional learning in nearby communities.
- Travel & Expense Reimbursements: Participants are eligible for up to $500 in reimbursement for allowable travel expenses, such as air and ground transportation, lodging, mileage, and meals.
- Local Implementation Funding: Every participating county receives a minimum of $1,000 in direct funding to reimburse expenses for delivering local Seeds to Solutions professional learning. Suggested uses include teacher stipends, workshop supplies, print materials, or refreshments.
- Substitutes for Teacher Leaders: Up to 5 teacher leaders per event can receive partial sub coverage funding (up to $200 per day, for two days). Teacher leaders must have site/district administrative approval and submit the substitute request form at least two weeks before the general registration deadline.
